Burlington Bar Specials Kick Off

February 24, 2012

There is a big problem in Burlington.

We don’t know what our bar specials are.

Seriously, after searching far and wide on the internet, I couldn’t find a single site that would give me a solid handle on which bars had the best specials each night. The closest thing I could get was www.findmespecials.com, but even that was missing many of my favorite bars. That’s why I decided to take action.

Since the name of our blog contains both the words beer and Burlington, we felt it was our duty to remedy the situation. Within a few weeks, T&B will be not only compiling bar specials but also reviewing the drinks and locations in order to create a collection of bars and specials to fit a variety of different drinking moods and occasions. We’ll find you noisy dives with cheap beers and cozier spots with cocktails that are reasonable enough you can afford to buy two.

With the assistance of 20 local experts, we will be attending bars across downtown Burlington to conduct product research and testing. Next, we will compile our favorite drinks at our favorite establishments and supply you with the best damn list of bar specials that Burlington has ever seen.

Tonight we start at one of the worst-named bars in Burlington: The Other Place. (Right up there with Drink. Honestly, why would you pick a confusing name when you know drinking will be involved?) We’re going to try to get over our biases against their name, though, by enjoying their $3 Heineken special. I also heard a rumor that they have free popcorn. Can anyone confirm this?

Anyways, wish us luck as we head out into the worst blizzard of the winter (2 inches, maybe?) to conquer the Friday-night bar specials. Look for more updates throughout the next few weeks as we pull together all of our drinking knowledge to find the best specials around.

Preview for Tuesday: DIY fashion.

In the course of your extensive research for this assignment see if you can find anyone in Burlington that serves Fruli Beer. I know someone who would love to find such a place.

Just returned from a trip to Burlington. Wish I’d known about your site before I left!
